Gerbosari Village, located in Kapanewon Samigaluh, is a herbal center in Kulonprogo. Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) has provided assistance and skills for the management and staff of Wahana Mandiri Indonesia (WMI) in Gerbosari Village starting in May 2022. This mentoring program is packaged with the title Community Service (PKM). This program is chaired by Anton Yudhana and consists of several lecturers and students across study programs, namely Electrical Engineering, Food Service Business, Chemical Engineering and Food Technology. The purpose of this program is to improve the quality of spice processing in Gerbosari with funding from LPPM UAD in the 2022 budget. Anton Yudhana said “the selling value of spices needs to be increased by starting with the right processing.” he said, Monday (3/10/2022). The method that can be used to improve the quality and production capacity of the herbal industry is the drying method by utilizing modern solar dome-based drying technology. This drying technology is equipped with online monitoring of humidity, temperature, and lighting levels. Spices are dried using a solar dome in a relatively short period of time. Retnosyari Septiani, as a lecturer in the Food Service Business said, “This activity is a great opportunity to be able to develop and improve the economic standard of the residents.” he also explained to WMI staff about the importance of branding to increase sales results that can be done. Retnosyari has provided training on marketing of finished products both domestically and internationally. Other team members, Adi Permadi and Wahidah Mahanani, added that to become an entrepreneur in the herbal sector, one must start with good management and totality. In his presentation, Adi Permadi did not forget to include the values of Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan as characteristics of UAD. WMI management and staff are advised to continue to maintain istiqomah in maintaining prayers and other worship. With worship that is carried out consistently and sincerely, it is hoped that later it will increase work ethic and productivity. Siswanto as WMI program manager stated that this program is very promising and believes that it can be continued with other skill improvement programs. around.” By looking at the abundant spice resources in the Samigaluh area, it is hoped that it can become a center for the herbal industry from Yogyakarta.
